Alyssa Selve is now Glendale's #2 Story
(Oct 15, 2010)This From Bree Mobley: Hey Broneer! So my mom emailed me and told me to update you on my life (*running life).
So that’s what I am doing! So a few weekends ago I participated in the first Northeast Warrior Dash! It is basically a 3K
obstacle course that climbs up a local ski mountain and then back down and involves a LOT of mud. It was pretty difficult
seeing as I am no longer a cross-country runner, but soooo much fun! And you’ll never guess who I ran (not literally) into
there: Hannah Fillas! We totally represented Canyon Cross-Country up in the Northeast. AND, the real shocker, we finished
in the exact same time!! (different heats, but our time was off by .03 seconds) So how crazy is that?? I suppose the good ‘ol
Canyon XC training has similar effects 2-3 years after high school.
Bree attends Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY (about 150 mile north of NY City)
This from Michel Noris: hey coach it me mike well just letting u know that last week the guy and girls team from
glendale took first place by quite a big margine at our confrence preview at oxnard college and yesterday we raced

had a bad race and a few of our top runners have minor injuries well just letting u know how things are going me
and Alyssa Selve love it here in glendale and we are doing mazing i pr'd in my 5k time in a 4 mile race haha which i think
is awsome we both want to say hi to the team and wish them the best of luck and we'll be seeing you guys soon tell
the team to keep up the good work and make us proud. =)

This from Kevin Reeves:
I just got back from XC mountain bike race in Gallup, New Mexico. This is the race in which I snapped my
bike in half last year. I am happy to report that I did not do that this year. I raced in the collegiate A race,
which is essentially the pro race for college. This was my first time racing in this category so I feel I did alright
for my first time. I placed 9th out 11 racers and the race was 31 miles long. Thought I would let you know how
I was doing. See you soon, Kevin

Got this from Tommy McGuan (Chico State) Hey coach, I just had my first 8k race today I had to do a time trial at the park right by our school and I'm not gonna lie it felt much nicer than the mile or two mile haha. But we were not allowed to go out faster than 10:20 for the first two so i think that slowed me down a little, but I was still able to run a time of 25:23, and I was (I think) 12th on the team; which is pretty good for a national team that's expected to finish 3rd this year. But tell me how Seaside goes good luck out there!

Alumni Update (Nov 8, 2009)
This from Anthony Pizzo:
Hey Coach, I found the results of my conference meet and I figured I'd share them with you.
http://www.proracegroup.com/gsac09/mover.html I was told go out in this race and try to hang on
as best I could even if I was alone. I did end up separating from the field (besides the Kenyan who
is considered the fastest of the NAIA by some) by 12 seconds through most of the first two miles.
At the end, I did end up getting caught by a Westmont guy and ran a time that is unacceptable at
best. I have no complaints though because I ran like that to give my team the best chance it had.
Unfortunately, we did not move on as a team to the NAIA National Championship, we finished
5th with our top five finishers all being freshmen. Our top three finishers were in the first twenty
finishers, and my teammate John Gilbertson and I both received All-Conference honors being 14th
and 3rd respectively. Despite the team not moving on, which is disappointing, I do move on to the
National Championship as an Individual qualifier. On the 21st, I will be traveling to Vancouver,
WA as one of the fastest freshmen in the nation to compete against the best the NAIA has to offer.
Best of luck to the girls and boys teams in CIF, I've been really excited for you guys this entire season.
I'll keep you updated after Nats. Good Luck, Anthony Pizzo

Stephen Kent (Cal Poly Pomona) took 5th place with a 10k PR at UCSD. The course was a single track, hilly dirt course. Our number 1 runner got 2nd overall, then the next guy was 4th, right next to me. My time was 32:18, which is a new 10k pr, our team won by a lot, with our team averaging 32:40, which is really good on that course, so we will probably move up in our national rankings this week. Next up is the CCAA Championships on October 24th, up at Humboldt State. (Oct 12) LINK
